What happens during a clean
We usually recommend a clean every six months, or more often if your gums need extra care.
1Checking your gumsWe gently measure around each tooth and look for any bleeding or swelling.
2ScalingWe remove plaque and hardened tartar from above and just below the gumline.
3PolishingWe polish away surface stains, leaving your teeth smooth so plaque has a harder time sticking.
4Advice for homeWe’ll share a few tips on brushing and cleaning between your teeth, based on what we’ve seen.
Questions
Your questions, answered
Still wondering about something? Give us a call on 09 570 2823 or email reception@classicsdental.com, and we’ll get back to you.
How often should I see the hygienist?
For most people, every six months works well. If you have gum disease, we may suggest every three to four months.
What's the difference between scaling and polishing?
Scaling removes hardened tartar that brushing can’t shift. Polishing removes surface stains and leaves your teeth feeling smooth.
Will it hurt?
Most people find a clean comfortable. If your gums are sensitive, just let us know and we can numb the area first.
