What’s included
What your exam includes?
- Your health history We’ll ask about your general health, any medications or allergies, and past dental work.
- X-rays These help us spot decay between teeth, infection, and changes in bone that can’t be seen by eye.
- Your bite and jaw We check how your teeth meet and look for signs of grinding or clenching.
- Teeth, gums and mouth We check for decay and gum disease, and look for any changes to your tongue, cheeks and palate.
- A 3D scan A quick scan of your teeth that we keep on file, so we can compare at future visits.
- Gum health check We check the gums around each tooth for bleeding, pockets and other signs of gum disease.
Questions
Your questions, answered
Still wondering about something? Give us a call on 09 570 2823 or email reception@classicsdental.com, and we’ll get back to you.
How often should I have a comprehensive exam?
Every 6 to 12 months suits most adults. If you have gum disease or ongoing dental problems, we may suggest more frequent visits.
Will I need X-rays?
Usually, yes. X-rays show us things we can’t see just by looking, like decay between teeth or problems below the gum. We only take the ones we need.
Is a clean included?
Not always. If your teeth need a clean, we’ll let you know and book it in, either at the same visit or as a separate hygiene appointment.
What happens after the exam?
We’ll give you a written plan with your options and costs. We won’t start any treatment on the day unless it’s urgent or you’d like us to.
