Risks and limitations

What to consider

Every treatment has benefits and risks. These are the main ones to know about.
  • Teeth often feel tender for a day or two with each new set
  • Results depend on wearing your aligners about 22 hours a day
  • Small tooth-coloured attachments may be needed, and are removed at the end
  • Some cases need extra refinement aligners, which can add time
  • Teeth will drift back without retainers

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. We’ll talk through the ones that apply to you before anything goes ahead, and you’re always welcome to get a second opinion.

Costs

You’ll get a written, itemised plan before anything goes ahead. Interest-free payment plans, Q Card, Southern Cross Easy-claim and WINZ quotes are available.

Questions

Your questions, answered

Still wondering about something? Give us a call on 09 570 2823 or email reception@classicsdental.com, and we’ll get back to you.

What does being a Pinnacle provider mean?

Pinnacle is one of Spark’s provider levels, and it reflects how often we treat patients with Spark aligners.

Are aligners right for me?

Aligners can treat most crowding, spacing and many bite problems. Some movements are better suited to braces, and we’ll be honest with you if that’s the case.

Do you also offer Invisalign?

Yes, we’re an Invisalign provider too. We’ll help you choose between Spark and Invisalign at your consultation.

How many hours a day do I wear them?

About 22 hours. You’ll take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush your teeth.

Are you orthodontists?

No, we’re general dentists with postgraduate training. If your case needs an orthodontist, we’ll refer you.
