Implants for one
tooth or a whole smile

Implants suit most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone. A 3D scan will show us whether that’s the case for you.

Real results

Before and after implants

Drag the slider to compare. One tooth replaced with an implant crown, and a full upper arch replaced with a fixed bridge on implants.
Both cases treated at Classics Dental. Photos shared with the patients’ permission. Individual results vary.

Your journey

How implant
treatment works

You’ll need at least three appointments. Healing time varies from person to person, and we’ll give you a timeline with your plan.

Guided surgery

Planned on screen, placed with a guide
Every implant is planned in 3D before surgery. Where it helps, we place it through a guide made for your mouth.

Why Straumann

Why we chose Straumann

We use one implant system for every case. Here’s why we chose Straumann.
  • Decades of research Straumann is a Swiss company that has been making dental implants for decades, and its implants are among the most widely researched in the world.
  • A surface designed for healing The SLActive surface is designed to help your jawbone bond to the implant quickly and reliably.
  • A stronger material Our BLX and BLC implants are made from Roxolid, a titanium-zirconium alloy that is stronger than pure titanium. This can allow a narrower implant where space or bone is limited.
  • Available worldwide Straumann parts are used around the world, so if you move, another dentist will be able to look after your implant.

Risks and limitations

What to consider

Every treatment has benefits and risks. These are the main ones to know about.
  • Swelling, bruising and some discomfort for a few days after surgery
  • Infection or bleeding, which are uncommon and usually easily treated
  • Rarely, numbness or tingling in the lip or chin if a nerve is affected (lower jaw)
  • In the upper jaw, the implant can occasionally affect the sinus
  • An implant may not bond with the bone, and may need to be removed and replaced
  • Gum and bone problems around the implant over time, more likely in smokers or without good cleaning

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. We’ll talk through the ones that apply to you before anything goes ahead, and you’re always welcome to get a second opinion.

Costs

You’ll get a written, itemised plan before anything goes ahead. Interest-free payment plans, Q Card, Southern Cross Easy-claim and WINZ quotes are available.

Questions

Your questions, answered

Still wondering about something? Give us a call on 09 570 2823 or email reception@classicsdental.com, and we’ll get back to you.

Am I suitable for an implant?

Most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone are. If you have gum disease, we’ll treat that first. Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes can affect healing, so we’ll talk that through with you.

Will I be awake?

Implants are usually placed with local anaesthetic, so you’ll be awake but comfortable. If you’d prefer to feel more relaxed, IV sedation is available./p>

How long do implants last?

With good care and regular check-ups, many years. The crown on top may eventually need replacing before the implant does.

Why do you only use one implant system?

Sticking with one brand means we know every component well, and replacement parts are easier to source if you ever need them in future.
