How it works
Making an ACC claim
1Get in touchCall us as soon as you can after the injury. If it’s urgent, we’ll do our best to see you the same day.
2Tell us what happenedrWe’ll need to know when, where and how the injury happened.
3We lodge the claimWe complete the claim with ACC for you. If you already have a claim number, bring it along.
4Your treatmentSome treatment, such as crowns or implants, needs ACC approval before we start. We’ll organise that for you.
About the cost
ACC pays a set amount towards each treatment. If the cost is more than ACC covers, the difference is yours to pay. We’ll tell you what to expect before anything goes ahead.
Questions
Your questions, answered
Still wondering about something? Give us a call on 09 570 2823 or email reception@classicsdental.com, and we’ll get back to you.
How soon should I come in?
As soon as you can. Early treatment gives the best chance of saving the tooth, and makes it easier to link the damage to the accident.
Do I need a claim number first?
No. We can start the claim at your appointment. If you’ve already lodged one, bring your claim number.
I broke a tooth eating. Is that covered?
Usually not. ACC doesn’t cover damage from biting or chewing, even if you bit on something unexpectedly hard. We can still help, and we’ll explain the cost.

What if a child injures a tooth?
Call us straight away. If it’s a knocked-out baby tooth, don’t put it back in, but do bring your child in to be checked.
